Terve! (just back from our Finnish class)
-Kokko! Kokoo kokoon koko kokko!
Your Cider Kitties
You might think "Ohh, another stupid and boring blog!" And you are 100% mistaken right! Yes, that's what it is. Anyway we are not THAT stupid and boring. And anyway it doesn't even matter 'cause we simply felt the desire to share all sorts of stuff that come rushing into our heads with someone out there, someone like you guys (if you are even there)
So here we are! Hauska tutustua! You might have noticed that we kinda like Finnish and there is a reason for it. We actually like all sorts of languages, both programming and human. AND there is (unbelievably!) a reason for that too! The thing is that we study linguistics at MSU. And Finnish is just the newest of the languages we study. It might seem like nothing unusual but we can't withstand the urge to share with you this extraordinary Finnish saying:
-Kokko! Kokoo kokoon koko kokko!
-Kokko kokkoko?
-Koko kokko.
(You should now understand our passionate love for this beautiful language)
Studying to be a real linguist is pretty hard and time-consuming so from time to time we find solace in drinking cider (not too much of course, but just that bit that makes us feel happier and overcome the void of despair that strives to drown us in everyday routine) But don't you think that we are complaining 'cause we are truly devoted to what we do. So going back to the cider thing. When we drink some cider (being linguists) we start to speak in all the languages we know.
It usually looks like this:
- Nous, nous nous reposons ici, et ils, là!
- Knipor av andra människor står på vår väg!
- Wie werde ich dieses Glas leeren wenn ich den Schmerz von afrikanischen Kindern selbst fühle?
- Pomarum vinum non habent, sine vino vita non laeta est!
- Давай приедем в Африку и подарим им сидр!
- lasipetsə? Tà rothar agam!
- Console.WriteLine("Everyone needs cider!");
- Pidä hauskaa! Skool!
Despite our indulgence in drinking cider we tend to lead a pretty healthy lifestyle. Our fitness includes running around shopping, hunting sales, jumping for joy, climbing towards success and even some real sports :) And frankly speaking, we love yoga (and we even study Sanskrit for better understanding of the subject), badminton and karate. So if a maniac tries to attack us we'll use all our
skills to defend ourselves: kick him in the stomach, slap him with a racket and strike an intimidating pose (virabhadrasana, for example) We haven't actually checked all that defensive strategy out but we're totally spies sure that it's gonna work!
As all good girls we are constantly developing and broadening our cooking skills. We like all sorts of food and are always trying something new: Japanese, French, Italian and of course Russian cuisine!
However, as we lack concentration and focus some of our dishes are...quite specific: coals with cranberry, smoked cacao, mango tremble with cucumber flavour, rice porridge with cheese and stuff like that.
But these are just exceptions. Most of our experiments seemed brilliant, nobody died after consumption (yet) If some of them prove really that well we'll share our recipes here on our blog. Stay tuned!
Sometimes we also get to travel (although now much less than before which hopefully will change in the nearest future). Our destinations include: France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, England, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, and Netherlands. So during our trips we developed liking for most of the languages we now speak. Now our next destination is Finland! If you have any cool travel tips, please share them with us in comments below! We want to see as much of this world as possible!
And we also are the happy owners of two amazing kitties full of claws and teeth and cuteness!
So that's a little something we wanted to share with you now! This is just the beginning of something (probably) bigger and better. We always have something more to tell you!

Awesome wat to talk to each other! This method might be useful in some languege practices, I presume.
ReplyDeleteAnd it d be great if you write more about your profession and about you being linguists, caz it's an unknown and quite interesting profession for the majority of people. Yeah, and disprove all those stereotypes!
And moar travel reports! With photoes:)
