The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time

"Five red cars mean that it is going to be a Super Good Day"

You might wonder what is the meaning of this seemingly illogical assertion. How can cars make your day good or bad? For Christopher Boone, fifteen years old teenager with Asperger's Syndrome, the answer is simple and makes perfect sense. The thing that he actually doesn't understand is who killed a dog with a garden fork. Wanna find out?

As you might have noticed, today I'd like to tell you about the great murder mystery novel by British author Mark Haddon.

You might say:

A strange person with unusal behaviour - so banal. A detective - thousands of them in the bookstores. So what is the fuss about this book? Who on Earth will read it?

Despite quoting Sherlock Holmes and belonging to a worn-out genre, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time manages to avoid many cliches, even in the chapter numeration! The plot will surprise even the most demanding reader: from the veryfirst page it grabs your attention and immerses you in the world of the strange but at the same time quite understandable boy with some behavioral problems. The combination of the main character's uniqueness and classic whodunit mystery works out surprisingly well and makes the novel incredibly gripping.

Still hesitating? Think that this book just isn't for you? Here is the fact: The Curious Incident found its way into both children and adult sections and was warmly received by all readers thanks to its multi-leveled nature. On the surface it is a simple story (actually not so simple) about a killed dog and a boy who, for some reason, cares for it. But it also can be interpreted as a metaphor for finding your own self in the sea of ignorance and misunderstanding.

So what do think? If some of you have read this marvelous book let us know down in the comments, and if not - I'm jealous of you 'cause you are just about to experience the cryptic magic of this unorthodox novel!

Wish you guys five red cars in a row! ;)
